Officers were dispatched to Chuggers bar in New Rochelle at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, when shots rang out during a dispute. Police said that three shell casings were recovered at the scene. The shooting prompted an investigation, which led to a suspect being identified.
On Thursday, Dec. 20, at approximately 6:30 a.m., detectives from the New Rochelle Police Department and members of the FBI arrested Jeffrey Stover, in connection to the shooting.
New Rochelle Police Capt. Cosmo Costa said that Stover was arrested at his New Rochelle home, and a handgun that was allegedly used in the incident was recovered. Further investigation into the weapon determined that it may have been stolen during a burglary in North Carolina.
Stover, 48, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of stolen property. He was released into the custody of the FBI and will be prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York.
Costa noted that a second man, New Rochelle resident Gerren Blakey, 42, was arrested for and charged with obstructing governmental administration after he attempted to interfere with the arrest of Stover.
